Apple's 13in MacBook Pro with Retina display has beaten Windows 8 and Chromebook laptops in a new battery life test.

Which? has compared a total of 18 Windows 8 laptops with Apple's 13in Retina MacBook Pro and Samsung's Series 3 Chromebook to find out which provides the longest battery life for browsing the web.

Overall, Apple's Retina MacBook Pro lasted 388 minutes (6 and a half hours), 30 minutes more than the longest running Windows 8 laptop, the Acer Apsire Timeline Ultra M5-581T. The Samsung Series 3 Chromebook lasted just three hours and 44 minutes in the tests. Trailing behind with one of the lowest battery life results is the Advent Monza T200, which allows users to browse the web for just 125 minutes before needing a recharge.

Of course, the 13in Retina MacBook Pro's unbeaten battery life comes at a price. Apple's laptop will set you back £1,249, while the Acer Aspire laptop will set you back £750 and the Samsung Series 3 Chromebook is just £230.

Rumours earlier this year suggested that Apple could be working on a Retina MacBook Air. For more, check out our new MacBook Air release date, rumours and leaked images round up.

Separate rumours also suggested that Apple could be planning to retire its non-Retina MacBook Pro models in favour of a lower-priced all-Retina lineup later this year. Apple has already reduced the price of its 13in Retina MacBook Pro by £200 last month.
