Apple's Spotlight search has been recognised by Popular Science magazine.

The title has declared Apple's system-level search tool a "Best of what's new in 2005" product, and is also inviting readers to vote for their pick of the nominated products and technologies.

"Spotlight, the search function in Apple's new Tiger operating system, updates the instant anything changes because it's built into the core of the OS," the report says.

It's the 18th year of the magazine's innovation awards, which also see a New York exhibition in early November. Every year the title gathers together the 100 most impressive technologies. "Check them out, then vote for your favourite," Popular Science says.
