Insider Software has released the Mac OS X 10.1 version of UpdateAgent X, a utility that helps keep the operating system and applications up to date.
The product now contains updated support for FTP and HTTP protocols for downloading updates. It will first attempt to download using FTP, then via HTTP should the FTP exchange fail. It's designed to maintain all Mac applications, including Classic applications.
Insider UpdateAgent X tracks the latest releases by 2,000 vendors. Once the application has determined what updates are required, it can automatically download these. It can also be set to run at regular intervals, and provides links to manufacturers Web sites.
Rio Sabadicci, president of Insider Software, claimed: "By providing support for both FTP and HTTP within UpdateAgent X, we're delivering sure-fire performance and reliability. This way we can guarantee that UpdateAgent customers connect directly to our servers with state-of-the-art transmission protocols."
The updated version of the application is free to all registered users of UpdateAgent. A demo version is available, this will update all system components and displays relevant application updates. The full version automatically downloads updates for both system and installed applications. UpdateAgent X 10.1 costs $49.95.
