In an Apple-matching move, UK music download service Wippit has begun selling Band Aid 20's 'Do They Know It's Christmas' single for just 49 pence.
The company will donate £1 per download sold to the charity, in order to maintain the official £1.49 download price, though the track's only available in Windows format.
Wippit founder and CEO Paul Myers said: "Wippit is known for great value. We don't have singles at £1.49, so we're pleased to be going out at 49p and paying the difference out of our own pockets. If it means making a loss on every Band Aid 20 download, what better reason for doing so?"
Universal Music divisional director of new media Rob Wells said: "Universal Music is extremely happy to have Wippit on board as a download partner. It's great to see Wippit support Band Aid."
