Quark chose giant technology-in-education tradeshow, BETT 2006, to launch the "Quark Classroom Pack".

This is a Curriculum Online (COL)-approved publishing and design curriculum. It is project-based and specifically designed for classrooms, providing teachers and students with access to QuarkXPress.

A series of project-based tutorials teach the fundamentals of publishing and aims to provide pupils with real world design skills which can be applied across the national curriculum. By following the hands-on assignments, such as "Building a Canteen Menu", students will be able to learn how to use QuarkXPress software.

Tomorrow's designers learn today

"The COL approved Quark Classroom Pack allows QuarkXPress and the fundamentals of desktop publishing to become a truly cross curricular opportunity. We have developed a classroom pack that brings an industry page-layout tool with teaching materials to more areas within the national curriculum," said Mark Green, sales director, Douglas Stewart EDU.

"The education market is extremely important to Quark in order to ensure that the designers of tomorrow learn the skills and tools today to equip them for the workplace," said Gavin Drake, Quark's European marketing manager.

The Quark Classroom Pack includes a 40-user concurrent licence of XPress, a project-based curriculum and a series of resource materials. It's distributed exclusively by specialist education distributor, Douglas Stewart and is available from UK educational resellers.
