An ex-Apple employee has filed one of the USA's largest discrimination lawsuits, claiming that Apple unfairly dismissed her on the basis of sexual and racial discrimination.

The complaint was filed on May 16, 2005. It alleges that human resources compensation consultant Shaune Patterson was "wrongfully terminated from her position", after she complained that white colleagues, who were junior to her, were being paid higher salaries than she was.

She also claims to have been the victim of "sexual orientation and genetic characteristic discrimination", alleging that one of Apple's managers wrote a memo describing her as a "rather obese-sized black lesbian."

Patterson's attorney is Waukeen McCoy, the lead plaintiffs' attorney in one of the US's largest racial discrimination suits, in which his client received a $133 million payout.
