Casio and Nikon have unveiled upgraded digital cameras.

Nikon's Coolpix 4300 is based on the Coolpix 885, which the company will continue to sell. The 4-megapixel 4300 offers a 3x optical zoom. The 885 was a 3-megapixel model and had a 3x optical zoom.

The Coolpix £450 4300 will go on sale internationally in October – £50 more expensive than the 885.

Casio's offering is an upgraded version of its slimline 1-megapixel Exilim. The improved version is a 2-megapixel camera. Two models are available: the EX-S2 and EX-M2. The latter has a built-in MP3 player. They go on sale in October, and cost $300 and $400 respectively in the US.
