A survey commissioned by the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) claims that file-sharing and CD-burning results in reduced legitimate CD purchases.

The CRIA surveyed 1,200 respondents and found that 30 per cent of those questioned said they had purchased fewer legitimate CDs because of file-sharing and burning, reports Digital Music News.

A further 52 per cent of those questioned who did not file-share or burn CDs were found to be active purchasers of legitimate CDs.
