Coca-Cola is to launch its own UK music-download service in conjunction with Peter Gabriel's OD2 network, The Guardian reports.

Coca-Cola "will become the first high-profile consumer brand to get involved in the music business," The Guardian reports.

The company's marketing director Julia Goldin told the Guardian: "We're delighted to bring downloadable music to more people, and we are working in close partnership with the music industry to do so.

"Consumers have told us that downloading music is confusing and complicated, and that what they want is an easy, simple to use downloadable service from a trusted brand."

The new download site will be at and will be available for the UK market only.
