Corel has announced a partnership agreement with Linux Technology to deliver a version of its Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux Suite in Internet appliances.

Linux Technology makes the Solution Box and the Office/Residential Gateway, two Internet appliance products. The Solutions Box, or S Box, can be operated as a stand-alone system while the Office/Residential Gateway requires networking support. Both are compatible with multiple platforms.

Under the deal, Corel will produce a North American version of Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux, that will be bundled with every English version of Linux Technology's appliances.

Dr Ching Yung, chief executive officer at Linux Technology, said: "We think Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux has done well with the Internet appliances and we have already begun testing WordPerfect Office 2000 for Linux on our new chipset. The results have been outstanding."
