The ill-fated Cobb County iBook deal looks set to face criminal investigation.

Judges in the county have decided to launch the investigation in order to decide if the $100 million contract was manipulated in favour of Apple.

Cobb school board members Lindsey Tippins said: "I've had questions about the propriety of the procurement process the entire time, and I'm so glad to see it's going to be looked into."

However, former Cobb County school superintendent Joe Redden describes the investigation as "politically motivated".
