In the run-up to Valentines Day Apple is suggesting that Shakespeare would have thought that the iPod is the ultimate gift for a loved one.

The company suggests that: "If Shakespeare was writing today, the love-stricken Duke Orsino (in Twelfth Night) might have called for his servants to bring him an iPod."

"Little did Shakespeare know that over 400 years later, the words would still hold such poignancy," says Apple.

Why the connection? According to Apple: "Since man first learned to sing, music and love have been inextricably linked. Think of your top ten favourite songs. How many feature the word "Love"? How about your top 1,000 songs? Or your top 10,000? If you had an iPod, you could find out."
