The European commission has approved funding that should help bridge the "digital divide" in Wales.

A BBC report states that there are 35 areas in Wales that do not have access to broadband – although broadband is available to 98 per cent of the country.

The extra cash will allow rural areas in Wales to pick up broadband. These blackspots, not covered under the current roll-out by BT, are in some cases just hamlets of two or three properties, according to the BBC.
