Palm has appointed two former Apple executives to top positions in the company.

They join the company along with an ex-Disney exec, and a top dog from Inktomi, according to a CNET story. Palm made the appointments in a move to establish itself as an independent company after its IPO (initial public offering) last month.

Satjiv Chahil joined Palm as chief marketing officer earlier this month. He was promoted to president of corporate marketing at Apple in 1996, but his most recent job was at Newbridge Networks, which makes networking equipment. Doug Solomon was at Apple for 15 years, but was most recently president of Interval Research. He is now Palm's chief strategy officer.

Barry Cottle, Disney's former senior vice president of marketing for the broadband TV and Internet applications group, will be Palm's chief operating officer of content and access. William Maggs, former chief network officer at Inktomi, will be Palm's chief technology officer.
