Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 5.2 for Mac OS X.

This version offers improved stability and enhanced page viewing for Mac OS X users. IE 5.2 utilizes Quartz text smoothing, making text on Web sites easier to read.

System requirements are: Mac OS X 10.1 or higher (10.1.5 for Quartz support), 128MB RAM, and QuickTime 5.0.2.

Eager to show its continued support for the Mac platform, Microsoft stresses that the release is the latest in a series of announcements that “show a continued commitment to the Mac.” Other recent Microsoft announcements include the release of Microsoft Office v.X Service Release 1, and MSN Messenger 3.0 for Mac OS X.

Kevin Browne, general manager of the Macintosh Business Unit at Microsoft, said: “We think people will be extremely pleased with the new rendering abilities of Internet Explorer. Our goal is to continue to provide the best browser available for the Mac.”

IE 5.2 is available for download from Microsoft’s Web site.
