The Macworld Conference and Expo opens today, boasting record-breaking attendance figures.
Pre-registration for the event has climbed by 133 per cent, with 26 per cent more exhibit space booked than at last year’s event. The pre-registered attendees read like a who’s-who of Fortune 1000 companies, claims IDG World Expo, the show organizers. The focus is on Apple, and expectations are high.
First time Additionally, over 50 companies are exhibiting for the first time this year, a sign of Apple’s growing popularity, according to industry observers.
Rob Scheschareg, IDG World Expo’s vice president of events, said: "We are thrilled. Everything points to this being the most influential East Coast event ever. It has evolved from a local Macintosh-user show into a major event with international appeal."
Macworld will be uploading news stories from the show floor throughout the event, especially following the keynote (held today at 2pm BST), so keep visiting. Apple representatives at a meeting in New York yesterday hinted at exciting announcements during the keynote speech.
