Apple is set to introduce a flat-panel iMac at Macworld Expo next month, a Bloomberg report claims.

Bloomberg quotes Morgan Stanley analyst, Gillian Munson, who is reported to have told clients that 100,000 new iMacs – which "may" feature a flat-panel screen – will be produced next month. Munson predicts that this could significantly increase Apple's iMac sales.

"This product could generate a lot of excitement,'" Munson said in the report. The report heartened investors, because Apple's stock closed at $22.40, a 6.41 per cent increase on yesterday's opening price. Nasdaq climbed just over three per cent on the day.

Apple UK does not comment on rumour or speculation surrounding unreleased products.
