Feral Interactive's hotly awaited Formula One Championship Season 2000 racing title should be on sale in the UK from next Monday, UK distributor Softline told Macworld this morning.

The title is a Formula One-licensed racing game – the first to reach the Mac. Players race through simulated-driving experiences on each of the Formula One racing tracks.

Features include a "pumping soundtrack, full commentary and full Formula One rules", Feral claims.

Team building All existing teams from the 2000 season are represented, including: Ferrari, McLaren, Williams F1 team, Sauber, Jordan, British American Racing, Jaguar Racing, Arrows, Minardi, Benetton and Prost.

The games features realistic six-dimensional drive-model physics, developed in conjunction with the Orange Arrows and Benetton Formula One teams. A training mode, local-area-network play (supporting up to eight players) and hidden features complete the game's mix.

Though it is possible the release date may slip, games industry sources suggest it will carry features under its virtual-racing hood that may make the title a landmark release for Mac gamers.

It may introduce features (supported at a System level) that have not appeared on Macs before – though this awaits confirmation.

The title was on display in the Gamer's Arcade area of MacExpo 2002 last week. It was described by the organizer's of the area as "the most popular title at the show".

It is expected to cost £39.99.
