Fetch Softworks has announced Fetch version 4.0 beta.

The beta is Carbonized for Mac OS X, and compatible with Mac OS X public beta. It offers an Aqua-like user interface with improved security features. The completed version will ship after March 24.

The program was originally developed at Dartmouth College to meet the institution's internal-file transfer needs. It has become the most popular file transfer utility for the Mac.

Fetch Softworks is led by the original developer of Fetch, Jim Matthews. It has licensed the source code and name from Dartmouth College.

Fetch 4.0 promises integration with BBEdit, Graphic Converter and QuickTime. It will support 11 different proxy servers, offer Keychain support and handle server-to-server file transfers.
