The QuickTime trailer of the forthcoming third part of the epic Lord of the Rings movie trilogy is available to view from Apple.

Posted last night, the much-anticipated release offers fans of director Peter Jackson's box office smash hit a chance to take a look at some of the highlights of the forthcoming title, The Return of the King.

Notes on the official film site promise: "Peter Jackson's adaptation of JRR Tolkien's revered trilogy concludes with the worldwide release of 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King'. With intimate, emotional stories set against an epic backdrop, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King tells the dramatic final story of these men, their relationships and rivalries, and how through courage, commitment, and determination even the least of us can change the world."

QuickTime remains the format of choice for movie trailers, helping consolidate Apple's relationship with that industry. This is despite Digital Voodoo's decision to abandon QuickTime development in its digital-video products.

Grant Petty, who originally founded Digital Voodoo last week condemned Digital Voodoo's decision: "It's hard to see QuickTime not being one of, or the most popular video file format for a long time to come," he said.
