Award-winning, Mac-using, UK independent band Franz Ferdinand has released a free B-side track in the platform-agnostic MP3 format.
This act's catalogue is not yet available through iTunes Music Store, presumably while Apple and label Domino arrange the template deal for independent labels created by Apple, Beggars, Sanctuary and V2.
The song, 'Tell Her Tonight', was originally intended to be included on the band's new single, Michael (Domino Records). The single is being made available on the band's Web site.
The band's Web site explains: "There have been some changes to the Michael single release, out this week on Domino", adding, "we neglected to realise that the inclusion of three tracks on both CD single formats would mean the second CD would become chart-ineligible".
Apple has also made available this week's free song download, 'Something Else', from Stoke-on-Trent quintet, Agent Blue. This is available as a free download through iTunes Music Store. notes accompanying the release describe the band as the "musical equivalent of Fight Club".
"With a youthful malevolent swagger, Agent Blue emerged from Stoke-on-Trent's bleak and rainy underground to become the latest rock 'n' roll contenders."
