Apple's newest director, Google CEO Eric Schmidt, stressed his personal commitment to the company in an interview with Time Magazine.

He explains: "Apple is an innovator in its own space. Apple is engaged in probably the most remarkable second act ever seen in technology."

Schmidt also spoke about this year's flurry of partnership announcements for Google, including: Dell, MySpace and MTV.

"Each of these represent a different strategic thrust," he explained, adding: "our partnership deals are about distribution".

Schmidt also anticipates that in future applications and data will be hosted and backed up online.
