Leading US band Green Day plan to donate all the iTunes royalties they make with their current single to the American Red Cross to help with tsunami relief.
The single, 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' is available now through iTunes. Discussing the tsunami disaster, the band's Billie Joe Armstrong told Gigwise: "This is the worst global disaster we've seen in our lifetimes, we felt it was important to take part in the relief efforts any way we could."
The band has never been shy to make contributions to good causes - some London gig-goers may remember the acts secret sell-out gig at London's Garage in Highbury Corner in 1994. The band appeared with Blaggers ITA, Dub War and China Drum in a benefit gig for the Hackney Homeless Festival.
Green Day visit the UK at the end of the month to perform a sell out tour.
