UK Internet users climbed 15 per cent in the last 12 months.

Internet analysts Nielsen/NetRatings reveal that, in the last 12 months, the number of people actively accessing the Internet from home has reached 23 million.

Digital Media Europe reports that the number of households using high speed Internet services grew a massive 117 per cent in the period, from 5.3 million to 11.5 million.

This means half the surfers in the UK are accessing the Web from home using high speed connections. the report observes that users with broadband connections access the Internet "twice as much" as those with slower connections.
