A report on MediaWeek claims the UK now has 32.3 million people online.

Citing figures from Nielsen/NetRatings, the report explains this figure equates to "over half" the UK population.

The report adds that the number of pages looked at per user rose 17 per cent, to "around 1,000 pages".

The news emerges following recent claims by ecommerce minister Mike O'Brien. O'Brien cited a report from telcoms analysts at Ovum, which descibed the UK as having the most extensive broadband coverage of all the G7 nations.
