Hewlett-Packard has announced its Scanjet 7400c, 7450c and 7490c scanners.

Each scanner uses HP's newly-developed dual-sensor CCD technology. This is capable of scanning at 2,400dpi. The scanners also offer USB and SCSI support.

The machines can deliver a scan preview in four seconds, and are capable of scanning at 15 pages per minute.

The Scanjets 7400c, 7450c and 7490c have optical-character recognition facilities, and are equipped to recognize multiple language fonts, including French, German and Spanish.

They integrate HP's share-to-Web feature, that offers three steps for users to upload pictures to Web sites from a scanner.

The 7490c also includes stitching software that scans larger than A4 originals and a full SCSI interface kit. It ships with CorelDraw 9.0.

The Scanjet 7400c costs £369, the 7450 is £469, and the 7490c retails at £679. The scanners will ship on April 1.
