HP yesterday announced new 3- and 5-megapixel (mp) digital cameras.
The 3.2-mp photosmart 735 offers a 5x digital zoom and 16 MB internal memory. The 5-mp photosmart 935 has a 7x digital zoom and 34 MB internal memory. The 735 can take up to seven shots in 11 seconds, and the 935 two shots.
The models offer both point-&-shoot and enhanced manual controls, including settings for exposure, white balance, colour, sharpness, saturation and contrast. Functions appear on a 3.8cm colour LCD with on-camera wizards built-in. The units offer video and audio recording features. Both cameras come with an optional docking station. Both cameras ship with a Pentax Precision Lens, and a 32MB SD card (735), or a 64MB SD card (935).
A new feature is HP Instant Share, which sends images via USB or the docking station to one of 34 pre-programmed destinations, including email, Web site and printer.
HP UK image-capture manager Tim Potter said: "Consumers are looking for digital cameras that can grow with their digital-imaging needs and experience. By combining sophisticated manual controls with on-camera help, the HP Photosmart is bridging the gap between traditional and digital photography."
The photosmart 935 will be available from May, while the 735 will be available from June. The 735 costs £199, and £249 with the docking station. The 935 is £399, and £449 with the docking station. All prices include VAT.
