The company has given a significant performance boost to its PowerBooks, introducing 1GHz processors, faster graphics accelerators and the industry's first slot-loading CD-RW/DVD-R SuperDrive.
Prices fall too; the entry-level PowerBook G4, which once cost £2,149, now costs £1,889; the mid-range model was £2,748 and is now £2,278, while the top-end model was £3,259, and has been cut to £2,449, with the addition of a DVD-R SuperDrive and 1GHz processor.

The 12.1-inch CD-ROM iBook was priced at £999, but now costs £849 (including VAT), upping chip speed to 700MHz.
The 12.1-inch DVD/CD-RW Combo iBook was £1,299 and is now £1,099. The 14.1-inch DVD/CD-RW Combo iBook has fallen in price from £1,599 to £1,349. The Apple Store also lists this machine at £1,638, with 384MB of RAM, 40GB hard drive and AppleCare package. These three iBooks now boast an 800MHz G3.
