Apple and Intel are engaged in a number of projects developing next-generation technologies, according to a senior Intel vice president, Pat Gelsinger.

Interviewed by Information Week, Gelsinger describes the Apple and Intel relationship as "ongoing", but declined to discuss the projects the partners are engaged in.

"Apple is very secretive, even to us. It's the nature of the company," he explains.

The Intel VP also admits that Microsoft isn't wholly happy about the relationship, but counters that to Intel, Apple is a customer it supports. "Our Microsoft relationship is as good as it has been in our history," he reassures.

He has interesting observations on Microsoft co-founder and chief software architect, Bill Gates: "Bill is innovative, brilliant, ruthless, aggressive, demanding and challenging," he states.
