Intel is challenging computer companies to develop a new breed of sexy PCs.

The company is trying to encourage PC makers to create devices that are more than just a beige box - Apple has been doing just that for years.

The company is offering a million dollars to the company that builds the most innovative Core 2 Duo-powered system design that employs Intel's media-savvy Viiv technology.

The competition was announced this week at Intel's Developer Forum (IDF).

As part of the Intel Core Processor Challenge, eligible design entries will be evaluated based on attributes of style, acoustics, functionality and features, the company explains on the competition website.

A panel of judges will evaluate the eligible entries and select the winners. Companies may submit up to five different and original designs.
