Apple's landmark consumer desktop machine, the iMac, is three years old today. Apple introduced its iMac range on August 15, 1998.

The computer went on to become the biggest-selling personal computer in the US from the first day of its introduction. The iconic machine became synonymous with Apple's return to corporate health, even though it was introduced after the company's first fully profitable year since 1985.

To celebrate the occasion the company is asking iMac fans to email their account of how the huggable consumer desktop Mac has changed their lives. "We'll publish some of the best stories we receive," promises the company.
