The National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) is calling for entries for its 2006 Digital Canvas Awards, the first worldwide competition exclusively for Adobe Photoshop users.

The global competition was announced at the PhotoPlus Expo in New York City.

"Finally, Photoshop artists, photographers, and designers from around the world will have an opportunity to gain international recognition, celebrate their very best work, and share their vision and creativity with the worldwide Photoshop community," said Scott Kelby, president of NAPP.

"This will be a groundbreaking competition on so many levels, and will open a lot of doors for some of these amazingly talented artists," Kelby added.

Winners will be chosen in 11 categories, and the Best of Show Grand Prize winner will be sent by Photoshop User magazine on assignment to Paris, France. Photoshop User is providing roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodation, hotel transfers, and daily expenses for the winner, and an assistant of their choice, for the five-day assignment to design a cover for the magazine.

Winning images in each category will appear in a special issue of Photoshop User, and each category winner will receive a prize package worth more than $2,500.

The deadline for submissions is Saturday December 31, 2005 at midnight. Each entrant may submit up to three pieces for consideration by a panel of judges. The entry fee is $35 per piece and $25 per piece for NAPP members.

Official contest rules and the entry form are available online.
