The Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York has stepped in to ensure that their subway map cannot be stored on an iPod.

Web designer William Bright had made the New York subway map available for downloading onto iPods, an innovation that thousands have appreciated as, according to New York Post, "Tens of thousands" of people have downloaded maps from his website

The MTA were less than happy though and issued Bright with a cease-and-desist letter demanding he remove the map from his site.

Bright may have to pay $500 for a one-year license that will allow him to make the map available for download.
