An iPod caused panic on a scheduled domestic US flight this week, CNN reports.

It appears two panicky passengers caused the incident when they both reported that another passenger "appeared suspicious". It appears the hapless computer user was carrying medicine, an iPod and laptop cables. This was sufficient evidence for others on the flight to suspect dubious activity.

The United Airlines flight from New York to San Francisco was diverted and forced to make an unscheduled landing in Chicago, while the suspected miscreant listened to his or her favourite playlist.

"A bomb and arson squad, including a canine team, inspected the Boeing 757-200 and found nothing out of the ordinary", according to CNN.
