Apple confirmed it plans to open a pan-European iTunes Music Store service this month, and it appears the company may intend opening for business in other territories, too.

The Canadian Press reports that music industry sources think Apple could open iTunes Canada "as soon as next month".

Meanwhile, homegrown Canadian music download backbone service, Puretracks, has launched an online music store of its own in the US. In common with many of the smaller services, this uses Microsoft's Windows Media 10 technology.
