An innovative use of iTunes has been made by EMI artists 30 Seconds to Mars.

Two weeks ago the band invited fans to submit photos for a set of digital liner notes designed to accompany their new digtial single 'The Kill'. They attracted 1,000 images in 24 hours. These have been bundled within a digital booklet available when users buy the Two Beautiful Lies EP (US only) in its entirety.

The move reflects record label attempts to experiment with digital music sales and to use new processes to generate a stronger sense of community between bands and their fans. It's also designed to convince fans to buy two tracks, instead of one.
