Apple and Pixar – both of which have Steve Jobs as CEO – are leading the way in driving the global economy, Wired magazine declares.

The magazine puts Apple third in its annual list of the top 40 IT movers and shakers – the first time the company has figured.

Wired says Apple "has created the kind of platform-and-content synergy of which gadget makers dream ".

Pixar – also making its debut – came ninth in the list, which was topped by Google, followed by Amazon, Genentech, eBay, Samsung, Yahoo!, Electronic Arts, and Cisco, writes MacMinute.
