In a U-turn surprising no one in the UK, Steve Jobs will not be attending the Spring Internet World conference.

Event organizers are reported to be scrambling to find a replacement for Steve Jobs.

As Macworld UK reported, Apple cancelled plans to attend Apple Expo UK in favour of Internet World.

Tony Smith, a Macworld UK contributing editor, described Apple’s rumoured wireless WebPad in the current (April) issue of our magazine. If such an appliance does exist, then Internet World could have been an appropriate venue for Jobs to announce it.

Spring Internet World runs from April 3-7 in Los Angeles.

Apple will still exhibit at the show.
