Apple CEO Steve Jobs has welcomed the arrival of digital-video solution Avid Xpress to the Mac for the first time.

"Most of the world's video editing is done on Macs, and Avid's new Xpress DV 3.5 will further cement this," Jobs said.

Features in the Carbonized application include an expert colour-correction toolset that features technology able to match skin tones between scenes.

Jobs added: "Avid has a long history of serving the professional video-editing community, and this new version of Xpress DV taps the power of Mac OS X and the G4 Velocity Engine to bring professional-level capabilities to even more Mac users."

Avid's president and CEO David Krall said: "Xpress DV 3.5 is an important release for Avid, as it fulfils our commitment to bring the industry's most powerful DV-editing studio to the Mac."

Other features include customizable real-time effects, real-time expert colour correction tools and customisable workspaces.

The software is available (excluding VAT) from The Solutions Company.
