Kodak has introduced its OLED (Organic Light-Emittimg Diodes) technology, which it hopes will launch a multi-million dollar business.

OLED technology promises "high brightness, paper-thin, glass-sheet display screens", according to Kodak.

Expansion Dan Carp, Kodak's president and CEO, said: "The picture industry is poised to expand at a rate that's unmatched in recent decades. The opportunity for advanced displays is substantial, and, in time, displays based on Kodak technology could be installed in just about any consumer-electronic device – from mobile phones to monitors."

In related news, Kodak has slimmed its corporate structure, consolidating seven of its business units into just two groups – Consumer Business and Commercial Business. It has also established a new business unit to handle its OLED technology.
