Rhythmbox – the music-management application for the Gnome Unix and Linux desktop suite and development platform – has been updated to version 0.7.1 and now offers iPod support – although this is "experimental".

Rhythmbox is free software that was inspired by Apple's iTunes. It has a number of features including a music browser, searching and sorting facilities, comprehensive audio format support through Gstreamer, Internet Radio support, and Playlists.

As well as iPod support, the update allows users to select shuffle and repeat at the same time to enable a weighted-random playback mode, and offers support for rating criteria in automatic playlists.
