Apple has begun an affiliate scheme, designed to boost .Mac subscriptions.
Web site owners can sign up for the scheme, and receive a $15 commission on every .Mac subscription sold using links from their site. Apple provides an array of marketing materials (banner ads and text links), a regular .Mac Affiliates newsletter and an online system that lets site owners keep track of daily sales activity.
The scheme is being run in conjunction with LinkShare, which provides the technological infrastructure for the scheme. Any site can apply for the scheme, but Apple reserves the right to refuse an application.
Apple also runs an iTunes affiliates scheme, but this is not available to Web sites outside the US at present. It's not yet clear if the new .Mac Affiliates scheme is US-only.
