Gefen has released two solutions for DVI (digital visual-interface) monitors.

The ex-tend-it DVI Repeater lets a computer's DVI graphics be "flawlessly" repeated and extended up to 50 feet. DVI is usually capable of extending its signal by only six feet. Pricing isn't available for this product yet.

Gefen's DVI Hub ($595) operates like the Repeater, but will duplicate the DVI signal and output it to two displays, rather than one. Both these monitors can be up to fifty feet from the computer.

ADC solution Both products will ship in the US in September. Gefen already offers a solution for Apple's ADC (Apple Display Connection) monitors, the DVI to ADC Conversion Box ($199). This lets ADC monitor users set up remote monitors using Gefen's DVI solutions.

UK pricing for the products is to be announced.

As a footnote, DisplaySearch yesterday released figures revealing that Apple, which only ships DVI desktops, led the first quarter DVI desktop PC market in 2001. It took a 26 per cent market share. Preliminary research indicates it will also lead in the second quarter, with 24 per cent of the market.
