Apple has gained a huge extra slice of the studio effects market in the US, gaining 11 per cent year on year TrendWatch reports.
The market research company – which reached its figures by talking with executives and business owners from within the visual effects/dynamic media industries – reports that 39 per cent of studios in this industry sector use Macs as their "primary system for pipeline/production workstations".
The researchers say: "Macs are used in a larger number of smaller studios while PCs dominate in larger studios and many studios use both platforms. We estimate 20 per cent of US studios are using Linux render nodes."
Figures are revealed in the TrendWatch 2003 FX/Dynamic Media Demographic Atlas Report.
