A new Mac OS version of WebWasher, an Internet filter and assistant, will be announced at CeBit this week.
WebWasher, from webwasher.com, has been a Windows-only tool until now. The company is set to launch Version 2.0 and the Mac OS pre-release at the computer trade show in Hannover.
Originally developed by Siemens, WebWasher is installed as an add-on to the browser. It works by preventing unwanted information - such as advertising banners or animated graphics - from being downloaded from the Internet.
The new version has an updated interface, and is easier to install and use - WebWasher can now be automatically activated when the browser is launched.
Non-commercial users, schools and public institutions can download WebWasher free of charge, while commercial users can buy it for $29.
