Maxtor announced its 250GB hard drive at MacExpo yesterday.
The company claims its new drive is the largest capacity retail ATA hard drive available. It is a 5,400rpm drive.
The device uses Maxtor’s ATA/133 interface, a step up from ATA/100. The product is being released for users to install inside existing systems as a replacement or supplemental hard drive. It costs £399, and its capacity is sufficient to hold 250 hours of compressed video data, the company says.
Maxtor has also released its 7,200rpm ultra series hard-drive kit with capacities between 80-120GB. These drives costs between £120 - £190.
