Adobe has confirmed that former Macromedia CEO Stephen Elop is to leave the company at the end of the financial year.

At the merged company, Elop has been working as president, worldwide field operations where he was responsible for Adobe’s global sales organisation, including field marketing, customer care and professional services.

Announcing the departure, Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen said: "Stephen has been a tireless advocate committed to the successful integration of Macromedia and Adobe. However, looking beyond a successful integration, the responsibilities of leading Adobe's worldwide field operations are not aligned with his longer-term career goals. We'll miss his leadership and we wish him well."

He will remain at Adobe until December 5, 2006. Adobe also announced its second quarter financial results last night.
