Macromedia has opened its labs to offer developers a chance to get involved in creating and testing new technologies.

A new area on its website, Macromedia Labs, offers developers access to alpha builds of new software. It also lets users share feedback on pre-release products.

"By providing early access to software to our development community, Labs fosters a more collaborative process of software development, helping both our developers get productive with new products and technologies faster, and Macromedia development teams to hear their early feedback on these products and technologies and help shape their development," the company explains.

Additional site features include free downloads, technical papers and tutorials and code examples.

Macromedia Flex Builder 2 and Flash Player 8.5 are available as alpha builds from the site.
