Macromedia is now shipping Dreamweaver UltraDev, its new Web application development software.

Dreamweaver UltraDev is built around the Dreamweaver architecture, and replaces Macromedia's Drumbeat 2000. It allows the visual creation of database-driven applications across industry-leading technologies, including ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML), Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP), and Sun Microsystems JavaServer Pages (JSP).

The software can be extended and customized to work within any development environment using Java technology, JavaScript, HTML, XML and C.

Pricing is £399, or £199 for registered Dreamweaver 3 customers. A 30-day trial version is available from Macromedia's Web site.
