Infogrames' MacSoft games-publishing subsidiary has acquired the rights to several high-profile titles from Take-Two Interactive.
They include Tropico and Fly! II. Also featured in the deal are Mac versions of Max Payne, Myth III: The Wolf Age, (illustrated) and Stronghold. MacSoft will also publish several more yet-to-be-named Take-Two Interactive titles in the Macintosh market.
This will mean that the already hotly anticipated Myth III will not be a dual-platform CD. In a note on the Myth III fansite, lead Myth III programmer, Andrew Meggs is alleged to have said: "The game will go gold on the same date for both platforms, but at that point it's a race between the manufacturing and distribution capabilities of Take-Two and MacSoft."
Cindy Swanson, MacSoft's marketing manager said: "As the market penetration of Mac gamers deepens, so does the need to provide this growing audience with a wide variety of products.
"We are excited to be adding such an acclaimed array of products to our line-up," she continued. Macsoft seized over 30 per cent of the Mac games market last year.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Kelly Sumner said: "MacSoft is the unquestioned leader in the Mac gaming market. We are looking forward to working together to bring Take-Two's titles to the Mac market."
